A school cafeteria worker in was shot and killed during a traffic stop as he reached for his driver’s license, the aftermath of which was captured in a Facebook Live video. In the video, Philando Castile, 32, is seen slumped over in the driver’s seat as his girlfriend Lavish Reynolds records.
According to Reynolds, Castile reached for his wallet because the cop asked to see his driver’s license.
The girlfriend started the live-stream video with Castile slumped over in his seat, his shirt soaked with blood. She tells viewers the couple was pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street for a broken taillight.
The girlfriend says the officer “asked him for license and registration. He told him that it was in his wallet, but he had a pistol on him because he’s licensed to carry. The officer said don’t move. As he was putting his hands back up, the officer shot him in the arm four or five times.”
An emotional cop is heard saying: “I told him not to reach for it. I told him to get his hand out.”
