More than 50 people have been killed and dozens injured in a bomb attack in Pakistan’s south-western city of Quetta.
Reports say an attacker detonated his explosive device at a civil hospital soon after the body of the slain former president of Balochistan Bar Association was brought in. Bilal Anwar Kasi was shot dead by unknown assailants early in the morning. Many of the victims in the blast are reportedly lawyers and journalists who arrived in the hospital following Kasi’s shooting. Footage shows bodies strewn on the ground. No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Balochistan has been experiencing violent incidents and targeted killings since over a decade ago. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has denounced the attack saying he is grieved over the loss of precious lives.
