A 20-year-old Brazilian physical education student has sold her virginity to an unnamed Japanese buyer in an online auction for $780,000. She was taking part in a highly controversial documentary by Australian film-maker Justin Sisely entitled “Virgins Wanted”. The winning bid was made on Oct. 24, 2012 the final day of bidding.

The opportunity to deflower Catarina garnered great interest with 15 bids, including many above the $600,000 mark by Americans Jack Miller, Jack Right and Martin Robinson, Indian Rudra Chatterjee and Australian Chris White.

The winning bid of $780,000 was made by a Japanese man known only as “Natsu” who will be permitted to remain anonymous.

Catarina will be delivered to her buyer on board an aeroplane flying between Australia and the US, so that the act will not be subject to the prostitution laws of any country. She will be interviewed before and after the flight, but the act of consummating the transaction will not be filmed.

The documentary, which has been three years in the making, began with the placement of posters proclaiming “virgins wanted” all over the Australian cities of Melbourne and Sydney.

The Melbourne film-maker was forced to hold the online auction and subsequent transactions outside of Australia and in international airspace respectively for fear of prosecution for prostitution and related charges.

Miss Catarina Migliorini, who has spoken of using the money to build homes for poverty-stricken families, intends to use the proceeds of her one-time act of prostitution to finance a public housing project for poor families in Santa Catarina, where she was born.

The film-maker, however, has his doubts about how the young virgin will spend her earnings. Speaking with the Huffington Post recently, Sisely said he was skeptical of Migliorini’s purported good intentions.
