At least 18 people were injured on Saturday when an escalator in a popular Hong Kong shopping mall suddenly accelerated then reversed, causing people to fall over. The incident happened at about 4:00 p.m at the busy Langham Place shopping mall in Hong Kong’s Mong Kok district. Witnesses said the huge 40-meter-long escalator suddenly accelerated to maybe twice its normal speed before reversing. The injured, including four men and 14 women, have been hospitalized.
